    Lanier LC 031

New member, forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place.

My company has recently purchased a used Lanier LC031 with an EFI X3e+ controller. Since the service techs never could get it going correctly the service contract went null and void. We do however still have the machine, only now it's up to me to try and get it up and running.

After looking thru all the manuals i could find, and purchasing a service manual form an online source and reading that at length, it seems to me the system software got corrupted. Or perhaps the E 750 needs replacement. When the system is first started the message on the LCD panel reads "System Booting...... Please Wait"..... It then flashes just "Please Wait" repeatedly forever. The E 750 never actually boots.

From what i have read, this indicates that the software could possibly be corrupted, and requires reinstallation. Can someone point me to the correct place to aquire this software? Or perhaps help me to further troubleshoot the problem(s)?

Perhaps some background would be of help.

As mentioned above, the MF machine is a Lanier LC031, with an EFI X3e+ controller.

The machine copies fine, so i feel safe in assuming that the base unit is ok.

When powered on, and the control panel (LCD) is in config mode, i have the following options:
    1) Diagnostics
    2) Continue Boot (which fails see above)
    3) Installation
    4) Clear server
    5) Version Info

Option 1 seems to only be checking the HD, not sure if that's correct. But when run, it reports Diags Passed.

    Option 2 fails

Option 3 gives me options for Network, Parallel, and USB. If Network is selected i get an error saying Ethernet Interface is not configured.

Options 4 and 5 seem to function as suspected.

All of the above is leading me to believe that the issue lies in the controller, and/or the software.

Note: with an Ethernet cable connected, no LEDs are lit at the port. Could this be because of a configuration problem, or is the Ethernet port on the controller likely fried? If so, is it possible to use this printer in Parallel mode as a shared resource on the network, rather than it being a server on the network?....... When i select Parallel from the Installation menu (Option 3) it requests that i send installation software to the paralell port, which is why i asked if anyone knew where i could aquire the system software for this Fiery model.

Any help would be much appriciated.

UPDATE: Maybe my cable was bad, it was the orginal one form the company, but i tried a different cable, and now have both lights next to the ethnet port lit, with the top one flashing. However, i still get the "Ethernet Interface is not configured" message.

So, what happens when you select option 3 and attempt to configure the ethernet options?

Guess my drive is either bad (ignoring the Diags Passed message) or, as per the manual, the system software has either been disabled, or is corrupted. I will remove the drive from the E750 and verify the existance of the software ( i have a multi-boot Unix/Linux/Solaris machince available to me) one of them should be able to read the drive, and let me see what's on it.
