ok , should the address book be populated by my active directory or should it just read from it?
It appears as though the only user in the address book is me, and thats probably from when I was setting it up originally.
In all cases I have set it up the address book was always populated with any user that has logged in for scanning. I've always said windows authentication is for lazy IT as they do not have to manage the address book, especially in a big government dept.
I could well be a setting on the server, but I'm not sure.
Anyway as there is no entries in address book then it must be something on the AD side like permissions for that user
What are the benefits of populating the address book? Sureley its better to keep it maintained by the active directory, with our staff turnover it could get messy quickly!
Well i've just checked my failing user against a working user in active directory and they are exactly the same, the only difference being is the failing user has about 20 added email addresses on her account for exchange purposes. I don't see how that would have an impact.

Haha, no offence mate,
I don't think there is any benefit of having the address book populated, it is just how I have always seen it with win auth. It certainly makes sense to use it as it can be easier in maintaining. Except in 99% of call outs I've experienced have always been a setting or a change on the server or network and hardly ever an issue with the machine. But guess what, it is the technician that has to diagnose the issue for the IT dept.
Any way I hope you can sort it out. As you can see the machine is performing as it should with windows authentication and scanning.
