    MPc4501 Photoconductor

    Hi,

It's been a while, but I'm after advice.

Can the MPc2800 type PCUs be modified to be used in the MPc4501 type machines? In addition, I'm assuming that the black PCUs of whichever sort can be modified as per the MPc2800 types to allow black PCUs to be fitted to the colours?

Any help given as quickly as possibly would be hugely appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Oh, you already did.

Well I'm not sharing, so there.

Never tried it sorry Chris, I can have a look at one in the morning tho, I've got an MPC4501 first call.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

if u r talking about D0292252 pcu then yes u can use in place of color pcu. its a fairly quick 2 minute hack: u will have to cut the other corner off the rj-45 with some wire cutters and extract the small aluminum pin then swap the first 2 wires in the harness. hold the harness with the pin releasing latches facing up and swap the two wires on the left. if u have a small blade u can easily pry them off. i would mark the first wire on the left with a sharpy or make a bend in it so u can be sure to make it end up in the 2nd position -both cables r blue so they r easy to mix up. caveat: after hacking so many i have this down under 2 minutes but my first time took a bit longer. hopefully i was clear enough but if u need help let me know. i think u can $ave around $500 - 600 on all 3 pcus. edit> this is for something else, i hadn't read the whole question but u still might find useful...

Unfortunately the PCU's have been changed again. Black is now D089 2250 and colour is D089 2251. Four more to carry!

oh well, i've been due for a bigger van for a while anyway. maybe i will get that ford transit soon to fit another set of pcus. only have a few mpc4501 out there but they r selling fast... give us a few weeks or months and we will test that hack on these new model pcu's. i haven't had to replace any of those yet.
