    MPc2050 no connectivity

This machine has a green link light on but cant connect to the network. I have checked the IP settings, connected with a crossover to my laptop, cleared the NCS settings in 5801.The light functions as it should but there is no connectivity/
Last week they had called and said the data light was flashing but nothing was printing, I had them power cycle the machine and it started working. Yesterday it stopped printing again and the power cycling did nothing. I updated all the firmware. Replaced the controller board. no change.
I see that last week they had a SC997 and a 991, they a few days later there was a 991 and I think that was when it stopped printing.
Nothing else unusual in the SMC list.
    Any ideas?

I had this happen on a mp2851, SC 991 and 997 and would not print. For me replacing the HDD fixed it.

Thanks, tuturo, wouldn't be the first HD to go bad.

IMHO, if the HD go bad, you should get at least an additional sc 860 - 876 Error. Does the Document Server work? is duplex copy possible?

Try formatting at first, then have a look at the ram; third check, that there are no odd settings in the security area like admissible ip ranges.
All of these can lead to a blinking Data light while actually discarding the print job.

          Hello
In this model Ricoh mp c2050 and c2051 MP green light does not shine. Try to put a fixed IP address if no change in print again put DHCP on.
Check this way will have some progress.

            Re: MPc2050 no connectivity

It has a fixed IP and I changed it to a different one closer to the desktop I was working with. I also changed it to DHCP to no avail. As I said before, I cannot ping even from my notebook.
I think the HD is a good bet because the machine has the print function. The print list shows everything. but if you dont have the necessary equipment,i,e RAM, HD etc., it wont print.
            Thanks for the reply tho.

and the data light is blinking while sending print jobs? Thats odd

Ps.: A shot in the dark: set the connection speed to 100mb full duplex constant, and see what happens

No the first time, the data lite was blinking and power cycling restored the print function. This time nothing reaches the printer and the data lite is off.. The only lite that is on is the green link lite. I cant PING to or from the printer.

you said, that you changed the controller board already, was it a new one, or do you have an "organ donor" by hand? if you have, try to change nv ram at first and psu at second
(i assume, that you changed ram to known good one already)

the whole error history seems to me, that there is something slowly dying

Does the machine have a fax installed? Try re seating it.

I know its a totally random nonsensical thing but I had a similar problem with one of these machines, lost connection was getting the odd ping with ping -t but nothing consistent.

Was in the process of replacing the controller board when I thought I would see if I could get connection once I removed the fax board. And yep away she pinged, replaced the fax, still got consistent connection and haven't had an issue since. I spoke to ricoh tech support and they couldn't explain it either.

It was a new one. I cant see it being the nvram, but it would be cheap enough to try if it came to that. the config sheet reports 768M of RAM so I am consider the HD next.

We had this problem once, and it was the HD that cause this. So try HD as some of the guys recommended

Just a thought, is the wireless authentication enabled? I've had a machine refuse to be pinged or received print jobs because some total donut switched it on. Took me fookin ages to find too.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                              Hit it.
