    MP161 SMB scanning problem

Installed on single computer, network print works fine.
I am able to browse on the copier to the shared folder (\\169.254.141.191\scans)

I press Com Test and get Connection to PC has succeeded.

But when I try to scan I get message: Connection has failed. check settings and check Scanned File status.

just noticed ur APIPA ip address -ur computer might not be on the network when it assigns its own ip address 169.254...
check another pc on the network to verify ip schemme -in the command prompt type ipconfig. might be a problem with the switch or whatever is assigning dhcp to the pc's on the network. might try to assign the pc a static ip also

I think we may need a little more info on the network connection, and what OS is the PC running? If it's Windows 7 you made need a firmware update. Otherwise, if it's only 1 PC, then maybe just setup scan to email? (although it sounds like this PC's not on the internet, so that might not work. You could also try using the PC name, rather than the IP address.

It is XP, but I just got it working.

I had to check "Allow network users to change my files" in the folders properties.

I just had to verify that the MP161 was working properly because the customers IT guy has been there twice, and could not get it to scan on their system.

Now comes the fun part, telling them there is nothing wrong with their machine.

            Thanks for the response guys.

Glad it's solved...Yeah, you always have to allow "full permissions" on the Shared folder

Insure that the PC log-in account of a shared folder are specify under the folder authentication using web image. Also, try to off the windows firewall where the shared folder is located.
