    Ricoh MPC2500 dead fax

Customer had office updated and switched from Verizon to comcast(with voip). Now has no dial tone on copier. I brought them an old Ricoh fax to use, which works just fine. I read some posts regarding voip and tried some of the setting changes with no success. Before finding out they had voip and that it can cause problems, I replaced the whole fax unit with a brand new one(I remembered to turn it on with the jumper). I also brought the whole machine to my shop, where I have a simple, single Verizon line to test it and it did not work. I can't honestly say that I understand how phone lines work or even what voip is but I'm not sure what to do next. The fact that the old stand alone fax works but not the copier doesn't make sense to me. If I didn't know that the fax worked before they renovated I would think that a board on the copier is suspect but that doesn't seem likely. I feel like I'm missing something simple here. Any ideas appreciated!

any error codes? u usually have to connect the smaller board onto the bigger fax board before installing the fax kit, i think its the smaller board that holds the battery that pops out during shipping. u will usually get an error if its not in right though.

Yeah, I know which one you mean, SC6something. I actually did have that at one point because I had boards in and out so many times. Other than that one no codes.
