When it is in sleep mode ...it wont wake up to receive a incoming fax....and the reason is ?

Have you checked the SMC and see if there are any service codes logged? I had an issue with a machine where it would go into energy saver and will not print or recieve faxes. It had a few service codes that did not show up on the screen. SMC recoreded some codes relating to energy saver mode. Had to replace the controller.Comment

After having another think about this one, has the machine been moved or the cable been changed? If you plug a phone into the socket and dial the fax number, does it ring? Could be the line's not being supplied the correct voltage for the machine to notice it's receiving something. Does it receive faxes okay when it's awake?It's 106 miles to Chicago.
