    Ricoh MPC5000 Toner issues

I have a remote client that has just emailed me saying that the machine displayed "Black Toner Empty ". They replaced the black toner and the machine no says " No Toner Black " and " Replace Toner Black ". They replaced the black toner again and still the same message. They are using genuine toner.

    Please help.

Some of the Ricoh toners for the color units look similar, and, iirc, will fit fine in the machine yet still won't register, Plus, if this is the bag style toner, the customer will install the bag backwards, and not figure out the problem. If the unit is a 'tube ' type toner, we have had issues with our supply department sending out the wrong type tubes- Ricoh has been very busy in the 'Let's confuse dealers with supply changes' department-

#2 ENGINE fix this issue this week...
Print out the SMC report and re-enter all the values that differ from default...AND don't forget the Forced Line Adjustment.

I think rsyarcia is on the right track. I replaced the black toner pump D0293221 to fix the same issue in a MPC5000 and MPC3300. I tried to "resurrect" the pumps, but they only responded by screeching at me.

            I am with rsyarcia.
I had the same problem with some MPC4000 and after changing the Pump the problem was solved.

Toner pump all the way!! Had this problem tons of times both on this machine and on the older MPC3500/4500

However. before fitting the pump, check that there isn't a huge pile of toner sitting on top of the entrance to the dev unit. I have actually had the development clutch fail once or twice, also turn the dev unit gears by band to make sure it turns freely without binding, again on a couple of occasions have had a seized dev unit, but both of these problems I have seen on high milers.

As far as I can tell, the only difference between the toner pumps (that is the c y m k pumps on each model of machine) is the length of tube that comes in the box with the replacements, so I just carry a black pump on the van, one for the c3500 range, and one for the c4000 range (they aren't interchangeable between the c1 and c2 model ranges)

take off nozzle at rear, clean through, check for toner blockage in pipe that runs to pump, clean sensor on nozzle, if this fails check pump operation, if this fails its the nvr ram reset

                good luck.

                    Whoever said NVram needs shooting.

All the pumps are interchangable, only the angle of the nozzle is different.

Straight in the bin, apparently the internal plastic parts wear and wreck the drive clutch. At least that's what it looked like when I took one apart (if you also wish to take a toner pump apart, be careful, a major mess can happen if you are not).

There's a tech bulletin about that I can't find right now that shows the problem too I think, but it might be for an older machine.
