Savin 8025 Scanning problem "Connection failed"

I have a problem scanning to a Windows 7 PC and I was wondering if it is set up on the network correctly. The IT person gave it an IP addrss of 192.168.1.050. It is a DHCP network, but doesn't the MFP have to have a static address? If so, it would probably have to have an address outside the DHCP range, maybe .200? I can ping it but I am pretty sure it has to have a staic IP, is this correct? If so, I know I have to change it in the printer drivers also. I have everything else set up correctly I do belive, proper folder sharing, etc. Thanks

There are multiple threads on this topic. Before doing ANYTHING with a Windows 7 machine, make sure the firmware of the MFP is all at current levels. 99% of your problems with Windows 7 are solved by having firmware that supports NTLMv2.

If you have good DNS settings, and it is set up properly, a static IP address is not necessary. The problem, as stated above, is either firmware, or settings on the Windows 7 machine that are preventing the copier from accessing the folder. Have you tried sending a test scan even though the connection test fails? I have seen this happen before where the scanning works but the connection test fails when dealing with Win 7.

Thank you both, I will check both of these things you mentioned and report back, but it may be a week or two before I get back there. Could not set up scan to email either using gmail. I have another question: It appears there is need for a site certificate when using scan to email. I was able to send it through Windows 7 but in WIM I was unable to dowmload it, there was no place to click to import it. Any experience in this area?

WIndoes 7 Home Premium and above $$$ will work. You must create the folder share using the PROPERTIES of the folder, and no the share wizard of the Win7. Everyone should have FULL rights and in security Users shoul have Modify rights.
Make sure the firewall ( If not windows ) has an exception in it for the IP address of the MFP.

Yes, firmware should be up to date, but this model came out after the 2003 packet fagmentation issue was fixed on the Ricoh firmware side.
