MP 3500 light copies

Does anyone have a way to darken the solids on these machines. This unit is in an accountants office and they are demanding darker prints.

A couple of things to try:

Make sure the machine has the new style toner and new developer: follow all of the bulletin steps on cleaning the mag roller, or order the new style mag roller. The old toner would just cake on the mag roller and although not as drastic in copy issues to the MP 4000/5000 it could still be pretty rough.

Change the original type for the copy function to text, instead of text/picture: this will remove some of the halftone rendering that the digital filtres apply to the processed image.

Also, if test patterns are ok, set machine to "pale original" mode and program as default, I assume they are using originals with pencil / red pen etc? Sounds like the usual "Garbage in / Garbage out" situation.

Don't waste your time cleaning the mag roller, it will only come back in CHANGE IT, the mag roller, Dev and Toner have all been changed.
You can't get the roller on it own i belive so you will have to get a dev assy. Make sure you replace the dev and set it up in the Sp modes. Clean the slit glass and LED's . Your have great dark copies then, Good luck ... Oh....... Make sure your charge roller is clean and in good nick.

Check the lot number of the toner if it is new release. Old toners have a toner filming issue. Lot number can be found near the tip of the toner.

Everyone (Except rthonpm an I) seems to assume you have pale copies (Lack of toner), but it sounds as though you may have bright ("over exposed") copies for this customer. Accountants tend to use both paper with light blue or red lines and pencil to mark corrections etc. As I said before, it's likely that changing the default setting to "Text / Pale original" will improve the pick up for these originals. Of course, it is an MP3500, so the dev unit could be the cause!

All good suggestions, also might want to check and clean the laser filter glass for toner/dust on it.

Here are 2 TB's, one for cleaning and one about an updated dev sleeve with a special coating.
