    [Misc] MPC5501 with SC503

    Hi all,

I have come across a few MPC5501/4501's that have come in with SC503.Upon inspection what happens is the Fence which pushes the stack of paper from the LHS to the RHS tray does not return to home position upon completion of this task. The paper goes across no problem and gets lifted and all is good however the fence only comes back half way and just stops. The mechanism has no problem shifting the stack across. There is no mechanical problem so far as I can see. Here's the weird bit-The fence returns all the way home if only half a stack is shifted. If the full stack is shifted it comes back and stops half way !!
I have replaced the entire LHS tray unit,Feed station to no avail.

Yeah, I've noticed this too on the 4501. I'd report it to Ricoh and instruct customer to move the fence back over when they're reloading the tray and wait to see what Ricoh says.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Had one do the same the other day!, wasn't able to fix it at that time due to another urgent job waiting but will be going for another look soon. I did wonder if it was to do with the drive pulley. There is a mod (For the earlier models, not sure if it is for the "01" series) to stop it rounding off (New shaft and pulley). You'd think it would cause an issue driving the full stack, but it must be worth checking.

There will be an updated control board for the tandem tray on this, I have been waiting since March for one, if you load 2 reams or less on the left side you will be ok.
