    ricoh 3245c-error-development unit(cyan) not set

I got this error message the other day, so i pulled developers out reseated them powered back on and it was fine, now two days later error is back and wont go away. Only difference between now and the other day, is the other day i got this error for the cyan and the magenta, now just on the cyan and wont go away, is this the deveopment unit or the clutch?

    Thanks

Had this a few years ago on an AF3228. Could not get rid of it. As a last resort, I backed up the NVRAM and did an engine clear. That solved it.

          Refer to factory manual?

Client does not have manual for the machine, jusy my luck.

I'm pretty sure what emo is referring to is the service manual where the procedure is outlined step by step.

If you don't know how to do an engine reset, then you're not a trained tech, so you'd better call someone who is qualified.

Start by re seating the connectors on the developer units. Sometimes these can be loosely connected when the units are replaced or disassembled. If you are using the black unit mod on the color drums, check the connectors on the back of the units to make sure enough has been removed. If there is too much left on the connector at the back of the drum it can damage the connector inside the machine giving you the set unit message. If none of this resolves the issue I would try new developer units.

                  It's about an AF3245, not an MPCXXXX-model.

Apparently I'm not reading very well today....

Check the brace that holds the units in on the front. It may be allowing the units to "walk" out of the unit. I've replaced a few of these in the past. As a field fix you might be able to take the brace off and slightly bend it in at the middle to keep the units installed. Also check the threaded studs in the body of the machine. They are pressed into the frame and can be broken off and not do their job.

i have had the same issue not only on cyan but on other colours as well. What i found fixed this issue is to remove the dev unit affected and then re initialise the unit again entering into service mode and telling the mach its getting a new dev unit in your case cyan. Simply removing it and re seating it wont really do anything. Try it like i said this fixed it for me. As for clearing nvram, good luck. unless you know exactly what you are doing you will most likely create more probs
