aficio 551 no sc

hi,
according to the operator of aficio 551 she heard a tick sound then the power went off then when she turned it on, it only displays "please wait" for a very long time. when i turned it on, the scanning unit doesn't move even when i move it to the center or the scanner doesn't initialize and the exposure lamp doesn't light also and there is no service code. there are no broken cables in the scanner area and the fusing unit is ok coz there is light in the fusing unit.

Have you tried to check and replace the HDD? You can see it on the right side of the machine. Remove the top right cover and you will see it there. When the HDD is defective, "Please Wait" displays on the screen.

Agree with sharpmind. Try to disconnect the HDD cable, then switch on the m/c and check whether show the "Please wait" in a long time.

thank you for your solutions.. but it was strange.
yesterday i tried it many times from afternoon until evening but all i got was "please wait" for a very long time.
i went back to the client this afternoon and the machine was back to normal without me fixing it.
maybe i didn't wait long enough. i didn't know the machine was telling me to wait until the next day..
hahaha...

I have something like that,
try to power on when ardf is up ( then I have -please wait), when was down - it was ok

Perhaps dirty drum potential sensor. Like in Aficio 1060, when the drum potential sensor is dirty, "Please Wait" indication occurs.It will work for sometime but it will show again.
