Ricoh Aficio 1022 Twain Driver error #9

I am having problems with the TWAIN driver. I tried to use a program "Fast Scan to PDF" ( Fast Scan to PDF - Simple Document Scanning to PDF ) and get twain error #9 when attempting a scan. ERROR: An error occurred while scanning TWAIN Error #9 Unable to open default TWAIN device. This program is reputed to be able to use any scanner withe a TWAIN interface. The PC is WIN XP SP3 latest scanner driver downloaded from the Ricoh website. Thanks

    Possibly the application.
I would suggest testing the TWAIN scanning using another application, to isolate if the TWAIN error code is being generated by either the application or the TWAIN driver as I can't find any reference to that code in my documentation.

      Hi,
Try using Desktopbinder (but not working on Windows 7 64bit).
      or use Scan Wiz

Thank you both for your suggestions. I have now tried ScanWiz and that works. I then uninstalled fast Scan to PDF and reinstalled and now that works.
However, I am now left with my original reason for trying other programs. I want to get a higher resolution for grayscale scans. As I said in another thread, it will not go better than 215dpi for an A4 scan. ScanWiz also seems to have that limitation when used with this machine. It seems to be linked to the data size which will only go to a maximum of 4.2Mb, Is there any way this can be increased as I want to get 300-400 dpi far an A4 scan in grayscale.
