PC-FAX from Mac?

Can anyone tell me if there's any way of sending faxes from a Mac? Machine is a Ricoh MPC2051, although I'd be interested in a positive answer even if it is for a different model.

Thanks for the effort, TM. I've been looking on Tessa, but nothing shows up, even for older models. But Tessa is known for storing stuff in the wrong place from time to time...

Yes, LAN-FAXING from OSX 10.3 or later is possble. although I haven't tested it on OSX 10.7. There are PDDs available although there isn't one specifically for the MP C2051.

Sorry, I don't have one for the MP C2050/2051 to hand. As with the Windows versions they are model specific. Your Ricoh dealer support should be able to obtain them for you.

The MP C3500 uses a LAN-FAX M8 driver in a Windows environment as does the MP C2051. I would suggest trying the OSX LAN fax ppd for that, although it may need re-working. Once the ppd is installed and a queue created you should be ready to go although using the LAN-FAX is not identical to printing in OSX.


Use the application's "File" -> "Print" menu. (The fax queue will not appear in "Printers" list.)
In Mac OS X 10.3, click "Fax..." button.
In Mac OS X 10.4, click "PDF" > "Fax PDF..." button.

The use the fax dialgoue settings box to set fax options.

First newbie lesson, do not post question on long dead thread. 9 years old. Start a new one.
You need an MFP with fax option and install fax driver for that model on your Mac.

In case you didn't notice, this thread is over 8 years old. Anything over 2 years old is dead, buried and should be left that way. You had to do some really deep digging in the grave yard to find it.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, you are right. I bump an old thread which I didn't notice. Anyways, I got something a few hours cocofax a company that helps sending and receiving free fax using a computer. Cocofax only offers 1 month of free trial which I was exactly looking for. What do you think?
