    Auto colour selct Mpc 3300

    Hi Guys,

    a weird request here..... I have a customer who want some sort of documentation that proves or at least describes how aoto colour selection works. He is in charge of a department who seem to be printing alot of colour in his opinion and thinks auto colour is just counting colour. We have tried to advise that a 10 page document with 3 colour and 7 b/w will count it like that but he wants proof.

    Has anyone got any documentation like this or know where I can find it?

    cheers in advance

    Generally what we do if someone wants proof;
    1. Print out a counter sheet.
    2. Copy a document with color and b & w pages.
    3. Print out another counter sheet and show them the counter increments.

      You could also print the pages out from the product support guide that show how the ACS logic works in terms of pages. That seems to convince even the most tight-fisted CIO.

        Attached is the reference described by rthonpm. Also be aware there are two separate processes we're talking about, copy ACS and print 'b/w, auto color sensing'. For copying, I would recommend going to User Authentication Management in User Tools and restrict Full Color. Going forward, if someone selects Full Color they will be asked to input a User Code for which there isn't one. They will be forced to use Auto Color Select mode, which will guarantee they won't be charged for b\w originals being counted as color when mixed with color originals. For printing, use the RPCS driver, which has the 'auto color sensing' built in. Other drivers may not always work, though I think the new PCL's may.

        And what GhostInTheMachine says is also the final proof once everything is configured.
