Ricoh mp 2550 sp how good are they

I have not had any of these units out in the field yet . Are they any good ? Any display problems ? Do these still use type 1027 drum units ? Have these improved over the mp 3010 models ? Thanks I would appreciate your feedback .

In my opinion they ruined the 1027/2027 type machine with this....

A lot more plastic and a lot less metal.... a lot more fragile

Stupid fragile pressure release levers on the fuser, stick the old type MP2510 fuser in at the first opportunity.

Still physically takes the 1027 consumable PCU but has no detection mechanism so you have to manually initialise developer.

If you have a customer *cough cops cough teachers* that might be slightly hamfisted, they will break this machine on a more regular basis than an MP2510 type box

    Just my five cents.....

True: there is a great deal more plastic in this model (and I suspect recycled plastic at that), but overall it runs as reliably as the rest of the 22/27 series. The big advantages are much better scanning features (colour/ACS scanning) as well as compatibility for newer operating systems.

They seem a little flaky in toner supply though, for some reason flashing the firmware always seems to help with that though!

need to minimize jams in 1st tray if not the gate pawl @ duplex will be broken after user open & close it abt 10 times, fragile & soft frame, size detection sensor behind tray tends to drop off & causes jams,no way to compare with mp2510 & aficio3025
