If the machine doesn't have the Postscript option it's a non-starter.

install the ps option. download the 10.5 dmg . move the dmg to the desktop and doubleclick it to start.
Locate the printer in the Printers and Faxes. if its on the network it will find it.

I've connected several Ricohs (MP161, 2000, 2510, to name a few) to MAC without PS, by entering the IP address to browse for the printer, when detected, use the drop down menu next to "use this driver" (or whatever it's called), and select the "generic guttenprint" driver.
I believe it's the PCL XL language that allows this function
I don't believe it necessarily allows for all the functionality of the printer (ie: Duplex) but it works well otherwise

Good tips there IMind. I didn't know "guttenprint" wasn't available on "Tiger", or that it didn't support colour. I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Actually there are mac drivers for the color machines. i just searched at riucoh-usa.com and found 10.1-10.7 drivers for the mpc5000 and mpc 3500.
