lanier ld235 multiple issues

Hi,

I am having problems with a lanier ld235 that I haven't seen before. It is currently going back and forth from a sc548 and sc 520 at power up (codes do not clear with SP mode reset), and has had inter sc990 codes. The door open, and paper empty lights are on. While in SP mode, all of the writing is in a different language (Japanese I think). Also, intermittantly while in SP mode it is not showing the other functions (fax, etc.). Suggestions??

My first guess would be the controller bad, can you do a firmware update on it?
