[Misc] Scanning with an Aficio 3224c

I am havint =g the most difficult time with what should be easy. I'm trying to set up scanning on an Aficio 3224c to a PC running Windows 7. I set everything up for SMB scanning to folder, set up a shared folder on the PC's root directory and put hthe authentication info in the MFC. I can ping the PC from the MFC but the "test connection" fails. Any ideas? Please help!!!

Where to start, where to start? The 3224 will not scan to a SMB folder. There is no necessary firmware to make it SMB compatible with Win 7.
You may set up scan to email and good luck with that. You may use Scan router to scan if you have an older XP or older computer to use as a scanserver. and if you can find ScanRouter, as Ricoh no longer supports it.
You could set up TWAIN scanning but only 32 bit and I'm not sure there is a W7 TWAIN driver.

I have not commented on the mechanical reliability of the machine but you will find that out. ( So then you will say,"so thats why it was so cheap")

A Ricoh 3224(themis) WILL scan to smb on windows 7 providing the NIB firmware is up to version 4.20, perpaps your thinking of the 1224(uranus).

And, the WebSys firmware should be V1.02 or higher and the Controller should be 1.08 or higher.

I stand corrected. I was talking about the B156 but I have a chart,(dont remember where I got it) that shows the print scan capabilites of each model and it show that model cant scan to SMB. So I pulled the PSG for it and it says that indeed the B156 will do SMB. Thanks for the update.

Have you got a chart to share, does it tell you if machines support tls for email etc?

            Could come in handy.
