Ricoh Aficio 700 Folding Problem

We've got a Ricoh Aficio 700 that is folding the paper (Z-Folding?) about 5 inches into the machine on feeding and it only does this with the 11x17 paper with multiple copies--does fine with just one sheet at a time. The fold seems to occur before the Drum area.

Any ideas? I mean, other than convincing the client he needs a serious upgrade?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like you've got a slipping registration roller or a bad relay clutch. It happens on multiple copies because as it sees more paper coming the clutches aren't firing at the right time.

and paper stations, torques and clutches... take it out and clean and lubricate...a hard job
