Hi,Guys. I have a 2051 that I am pulling and replacing with another 2051. The old machine has a TON of entries in the address book. If I back up the address book with the WIM, will I be able to download it to the newer 2051 since it is the same model, or is it machine specific? I have tried this in shop with 2 different Ricoh models, and the file was not recognized by the one I was trying to download to. I'm pretty sure I could just swap the HDDs and all would be good. I'm just looking for the easiest way to do this without having to do manual reentry. Any ideas? I thought there might be a way to upload it to an SD card, but I couldn't find it in the manual.

Re: Transferring the address book to a different machine
You could try using smartnet monitor for admin and exporting them to an excell spreadsheet then sending them back to the new machine, although 2 identical machines should have no problems when copying the address data.Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential -
Re: Transferring the address book to a different machine
Smart Device Monitor for Admin will do the job for you: just tell it to export the address book. Save it, and then when the new machine is in place, export to the new machine. The only thing it won't export (as a security feature) is individual passwords.Comment

Re: Transferring the address book to a different machine
One thing to try is backing up/restoring the address book to an SD card via SP Mode, I've done this when installing a new machine (assuming a Ricoh for Ricoh), back up the address book from the old machine to SD, download it to the new machine, BAM done and dusted. As long as the controller/GW is the same revision, it should work fine in my experience.
Can't remember the exact SP mode, but put a blank card in the service slot (same as f/w update) and scroll through the Mode 5xxx until you see something to the effect of Address Book Backup/Restore.Comment

Forgot to give an update on this one. Upload to and from an SD card was under UCS settings, SP 5846 051 and 052. Quick and easy.NEVER ASSUME ANYTHINGComment

Thanks for the feedback!
I usually try this first since it's the easiest way to do. Unfortunately my experience due to the success rate isn't great when it comes to cross-model/generation transfers. Next thing is try using the Smart Device Monitor wich usually get the job done (still not a 100% success rate).Comment

Re: Transferring the address book to a different machine
If you do the sd card route through sp 5846 you can not transfer to a different machine, The file will be serial # specific. And no you can't rewrite the S/N on the file and get it to work. Been there Done that!Mystic Crystal RevelationsComment

Re: Transferring the address book to a different machine
Backing it up and restoring it, which I do using WIM, usually works across all sorts of models. However, it mostly fails when using the address book from a colour box and trying to restore this to a mono box, probably because the fields are different.Comment

Sure you can. I had no troubles at all loading the address book onto another 2051 with the SD card.NEVER ASSUME ANYTHINGComment

Re: Transferring the address book to a different machine
You can use the sd card / WIM method as long as the machines have the same version GW controller even if they are different models. Otherwise SDMA is the best method.Comment
