    Ricoh Aficio 3025 replace toner bottle/add toner message and screwed printing

    Hi guys,

    I just replaced the drum and charge roller of the PCU on my Aficio 3025. Did I miss anything here? Printing is not good, text appears to be somewhat faint. I mean printed text doesn't appear solid, similar to that of a worn out drum. Add toner message doesn't go off eventhough bottle is full. Machine just adds toner to the PCU even if it's already full, creating a mess of spilled toner. BTW, I just had the developer replaced. Thanks in advance. It was working fine before I did the parts replacement, albeit a persistent undesirable mark on the paper caused by the replaced drum.

      Clean out the toner hopper and observe if the slider assembly can catch the toner cap. Also check the development gears whether it is still good or not.

          Sounds like the mixer augers aren't turning in the developer, make sure the gears on the rear of the shafts aren't stripped (pretty common). Attached is a TB relating to this....

          Also not uncommon for the upper cover over the lower dev assy to not get fully snapped on its hooks after the tech has replace developer, leaving a gap that dev will spill out of. In either case pull it all apart and visually inspect everything, I'm sure you will find the cause.

              Hi there!
              We dont replace drum etc... in the units coming with the machines. We take the PCU Type 1027, change it, "developer initialisation" and here we go. No problems with wornout gears...

                  Yeah, I'd second replacing the complete PCU. They don't last more than three or four rebuilds without something breaking. Just make sure you switch SP5-912 on and you won't need to initialise the developer, it'll do it itself when the new PCU is installed.
                  It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                      Thanks fellas, one developer gear stripped indeed. Had a tech replace it which something I couldn't personally do. Everything's fine now (I hope). Thanks again

                          BTW, any suggestions on a less problematic PCU model/type that I might get in the future to replace the one that I have? Thanks in advance again

                              type 1027 pcu can only be rebuild once after running abt 70k prints by changing the 5 gears on the developing unit but 3025 pcu developing unit gears will be broken abt 80k prints & cannot be rebuild,so type 1027 pcu is still the better option for tis model
