[Error Code] Intermittent SC 124 (Aficio 551)

Guys, any ideas on how to resolve this issue?Scanner motor and MCU are already replaced but the error keeps showing from time to time.Scanner wire is properly set on its position.

(Two years ago, the pulley on the rear drive of the optics unit was out position because the hexagonal screw that holds it was broken. We tried to put another screw but it never gets in. So we decided to drill another holes into the pulley and put a screw on it.)

When I switch on the machine, it will run some copies and then it throws SC124 code. I switch the machine off and on again. I observe the exposure lamp will just lit up for a second and the error shows again.

I am running out of ideas on how to solve the problem. Can you help me think of other solution?

    Thank you.

Hi I've had a few issues on these babies in the past...
      • 1st and 2nd Scanner Not quite aligned.
      • Home position sensor.
      • MCU Board
      • Motor.
      • PSU.
      • Scanner rail shoe missing, (Platic thing on bottom of scanner mirrors).
      • Wires stretched or damaged.

      Good Luck

It sounds like you need to replace the scanner shaft at this time. I've done several of these in the past, and it is a pain. Also check the scanner wires for damage.
