Ricoh MP2550 Jams from Tray 1

    Hi all

I have been experiencing some strange jams on a customers MP2550. .

The paper seems to jam from Tray 1 only and not always come out the tray. . .

It doesnt happen all the time and not really when I am there!

I have installed new feed roller and sep pad and will be returning with a feed clutch.

    Has anyone got any suggestions?

I was also thinking of maybe a possible firmware upgrade if anyone can supply the latest?

    Many thanks for your time!

    John

Check for a split in the chuck of the rising unit D0102780 (it's the plastic gear in the rear frame that engages the lift pin on the cassette when you push it in). What happens is, on a full cassette the heavy weight of the paper will cause the split to open up as it lifts the paper to the feed roll, preventing the top sheet from getting enough contact with roller but enough to actuate the paper present sensor. If you had a quarter ream of paper in the tray it will probably feed fine. Also check that both springs in the rear are intact, they provide added lift dependent on the side guide positions.
Another possibility is a side sensor knocked out in the rear, but I believe that will give you a continuing jamming issue. I have attached the TB for your reference.

        Excellent!!

I didnt have this TB in my catalog of bulletins!

I have researched this some more and will check the machine with your notes above but have also found that there is a lift plate adjustment procedure to perform if I get jams from tray 1 when the paper is full etc. . . I also read to unplug CN310 from the BICU?

You can unplug the connector from the BICU, or unplug all of the sensors behind the tray and manually set the paper size in User Tools. If you do that though it's usually a good idea to screw the guides in place to keep people from changing the paper size.

If you mean the adjustment for bottom plate pressure.....I haven't had much luck with that adjustment. Since you already replaced feed roller & sep pad - Clutches , lift motor , springs or sensor out of position etc seems more likely

Thanks for the support so far!!

I forgot to ask, how can can I reset the admin login credentials on this machine?

The usual 'Admin' and 'BLANK' has been changed and I need to reset to standard. . .

              Thanks!
