CL7200 - Recover total page count

    Hi everyone.

We bought a used CL 7200 and there was obviously a page count reset done on it in the past

Is there a way to discover the real total page count of the machine??

I went in service mode and I did print the full SMC report and I don't see it anywhere

Are there any counter that can't be reset on this machine that I can look to see if I can confirm that there was a reset done?

    Thanks for the help

Look for the mechanical counters. They are often hidden behind a cover and may not have been replaced. I do not recall specifically where they may be located on this model (usually one of the covers inside the front door).

Go to MENU and print the configuration page. The count will be at the top part of the page. I suppose a NVRAM replacement may have occurred if it is close to zero. I've never noticed a mechanical counter on this printer, but I haven't looked for one either. At the moment I'm about 50 miles away from looking at a parts list to see if it exists. If you have a manual, look in the SC codes. If a mechanical counter is disconnected, it throws a code. If no code is listed, maybe no counter.

I know the count is on the top of the configuration page, it say it have 38K copy, that's impossible, this thing have at least 500K copy on it if I look at the wear.

And I don't think they replaced the NVRAM/board. Unfortunately it's ridiculously easy to reset the count ... no hardware manipulation needed. And you can reset everything.... that's really stupid, Ricoh should have made some count read only so even a full reset can't delete them.

There is a SC code for the mechanical counters .... now it's hunt time to find it!!!

It's not possible to reset the total counter just by pressing some buttons. You'll have to do more than that. Could not find any info about mechanical counters.

Perhaps I'm wrong, it may be only the MFP's that have the counters.

There is a mechanical counter on the CL7200 apparently. It's in exterior 2 in the parts catalogue, part number AX31 0045 and it seems to live at the bottom right hand side of the transfer unit.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

              Hit it.

                Found it!!

All you have to do is open tray 1, then remove the little sticker on the right and you see the counter behind it.

It show 40K copy .... I don't know what to think now...

The toner compartment is very dirty, the fuser is dead, the left panel gear that is driven by the fuser show very heavy wear ... this can't have only 40K copy....

remove the mechanical counter and have a close look to it, maybe it was opend and reset too, you can see it by the scratches at the backside of the housing.
