    [Misc] MPC 6501 ACC failure

Hi, I have a machine that will perform acc for copies, but for prints, it goes through all the motions as if to print the test page but then comes up with a message "Test page could not be printed". Firmware is up to date. No process control errors that I can find. Print quality looks fine both on copies and on the "copy" acc page.

    Anyone had anything similar?

Every time I've had that issue has been due to the density being too low on the patches (though the colors may look fine and no errors generated). First make sure the MUSIC sensors are clean and the mfp is not overdue or close to a PM - if so then that should be the first thing to do. Try doing a force toner (don't run a complete cycle, open the door after 15-20s so you don't overtone it). Then try running the calibration again.

If the default tray for printing is set at anything except for A4 plain, ACC will fail. Toner near-end or end conditions can also cause this.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

Thanks guys, the paper type is not the problem. The machine will do a Forced Line Position check. Forcing toner supply doesn`t seem to make a difference. all parts are well within yield. Ok, the drums are looking worn but no worse than I have seen in any other machine in this range. What I don`t get is why it will print a test sheet in copier acc but not printer acc. Guess I`ll have to look at rebuilding some pcu`s...

The only difference is the resolution, so maybe it has something to due with the writing. Try setting sp3501-004 to '0' and redo ACC (this will turn off process control before ACC is performed). If it is successful then there is a good chance that the issue is with the process components (pcu, etc). You might also try setting the ACC value back to factory default and try recalibrating again (sp5610-004).

Ok, Tonermonkeh, here is where I eat humble pie. Having now checked the paper weight settings THOROUGHLY I found that the offending tray was set to 81 - 100gsm. It now acc`s everything. Is it me or is that daft? What also threw me was that when trying to do the 9000dpi acc (and only on this setting), it would display the "place test print on glass" screen straight away, without printing anything. I`m confused but a tiny bit wiser...

            Thanks to both you guys

No problem at all! Where's my pie tho? Get one from the Village Inn and mail it
