    Firmware Updates

    Guys,

I am hoping that someone can help me out.

Where can I obtain firmware updates for my copier - Savin C2824. I don't currently have a maintenance contract and I was hoping to update to the latest firmware.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Thanks.

Hello, to update the firmware for your multi-function must have a contract with the main house, only then you can request updates.
For your multi-function there are different firmware, system copy, engine etc. ... and so on. What firmware do you need?
I'll see if I can help.

        Re: Firmware Updates

These are the current firmwares installed

        Firmware Version
        System/Copy 1.30 B1805901H
        Fax 04.00.00 B1805911C
        SD Printer 1.26 B1805958F
        SD RPCS Font 1.00 B1805959
        Security Module 3.09.2 B1805960C
        SD Scanner j2_1.09 B7166520C
        Network Support 4.17 B7166540C
        Web Support 1.16 B7166550C
        Network DocBox 1.01 B7166560C
        Web DocumentBox 1.06 B7166570
        FCU 06.00.80 B7125572C
Looking at this site from 2007, I can see that all the firmwares need to be updated.

I specifically need the network drivers (and others if the network is linked to them .. as in need to update those before ) since I have a hard time scanning directly to a win 7 machine.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Why do you need to update firmware? If its running OK, leave well alone! We only update firmware if we are chasing a problem in a copier.
Updating firmware just for the sake of it is only done by IT nerds who have too much time on their hands.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

Firmware updates prevent problems occuring b4 they start,ie fuser lamps going in a MPC2800,or waste toner not full not detected etc-prevention in better than cure!

I think ranges of MFP's and Copiers need to be treated differently some you need to upgrade on sight as like semi says on some devices simply updating the firmware will stop potential error messages and issues, even avert the shortening of the life of the a part or parts. But on other copiers especially those where the customer has had in place for years and it just works plus the firmware change log indicates no major advantage gained from updating the Firmware you might be making a issue out of nothing.

But over the years plenty of Copiers I have come across often had for example jamming issues which could of been either averted or made easier for the customer to clear but all the previous Engineers simply went a long and cleared the Jam and maybe changed some parts. When a few mintues of updates might have saved at least a few of the calls being made.

I don't think firmware is ever a bad thing, but we also only update firmware in the field if we are seeing problems. We do update it before it rolls out of the shop. However I don't know in this case if its going to fix your problem with connecting to windows7 I did't see anything in the update corrections about windows 7 machines.

I have had a machine have trouble connecting to a W7 pc, all other PC's were XP. What ended up fixing it was rolling the windows driver back to PCL5 instead of PCL6, we have had issues with PCL 6 driver, we still use 5 most of the time.

The problem here is apparently scanning to Win7, not printing, and only firmware update will solve this; That is, if you want to use SMB protocol, but if firmware update isn't an option, setting up scan to FTP or email would work without a hitch

Firmware Is Great | Copier & Multifunction Firmwares

Buy them - or else get a technician to do it for you.

If you buy them, you're on your own. As the site disclaimer clearly states, they only sell you the firmware, they won't be liable if you break anything.

If you get a tech, you'll get someone with the proper expertise to do it.
