This unit was leaving magenta lines and a slight background on one side of copy and yellow lines and a slight background on the other side of copy . I tried different pcu s from a good working machine and that did not help so I swapped out the transfer unit and that didnt help . So now I tried putting the units I removed into my good working machine and they are OK . So whats next ? Any ideas any one ?

Well, sounds like you are having issues with units or TX cleaning unit. If it leaves lines on both sides it is usually PCU/DEV unit (don't try old units from other machines - use a new one). Also have a look what is the "mileage" of a transfer unit cleaning unit. If over 160K - replace it. And the last suggestion - TX unit itself a very tricky one - charge rollers inside may have issues with alignment - check all rollers (you have to unscrew few screws to get to them) and see if they are freely moving and all of them are still spring loaded. Lots of times these rollers went off position and it causes problems (for some reason Yellow is the "leader") Good luck!
