paper detect sw detects paper, but the feed motor doesnt turn on the first copy, clear the jam message and manually advance paper and it takes off.. Tried pulling it apart and what a pain, I got the cover off and checked switch and actuator all is fine,I was thinking maybe a firmware upgrade but that sounds not right.. Any suggestions ?

I work mainly on Lanier branded machines, so my model translation might be suspect and therefore this might be wildly off, but does that model's bypass have the white plastic springs on the bypass frame and locator tabs on the tray? If any of those are broken, the machine will still detect the paper, but the bypass entrance will be too narrow to let the paper feed correctly.
