Ricoh Aficio MP6500 WIM password issue

Ricoh Aficio MP6500 WIM password was changed by original customer,and my i\IT guy cant log on to set up
scan folders on the machine.
we tried admin,no password and password for password but cant get in.
can i set up scan folders without it thru the control panel?
if not can i do a nvram clear or will i get bigger problems?

Log in as supervisor, no password. This will allow you to change the administrator username and password. Don't do a nvram clear. I think a nvram replacement may be required if this doesn't work.

are you talking about logging on WIM or thru the control panel,
i ve never logged on except thru WIM using admin to do firmware updates on the color machines.

If you must change the NVRAM, make sure to make a backup to an SD-Card. You can reload all setting to the new NVRAM.

I was having the same problem on an older version of that machine and I called tech support about it. They told me that I had to replace the NVRAM and to not copy over the data and other setting from the other "Bad" NVRAM or I will have the same problem.

In this case the NVRAM should be OK. The only thing is that the password can't be retrieved.

IIRC, the passwords will be transferred with the rest of the NVRAM data and will therefore not likely be of much use. There is another thread recently started that shows the supervisor and admin account information is present in the *.nv file created by an NVRAM download.

supervisor password was changed...cant log on..


looks like im going to either 1: find the "factory sp access code",not sure if there is a reset option..
or 2:try to reset the supervsr password via a hex editor...another post has some good info
