    MP 6500 / SC 220

    MP6500 - 2.8 million copies - Goes to 'Ready' condition - once Start key is pressed goes into an immediate SC220 - paper stops at fuser entrance.

    Replaced Laser Diode (performed SP 2115), Laser Sync. Board, IPU - Checked all associated wiring and harnesses - cannot correct problem.

    Suggestions appreciated.

      The laser diode has been modified to make it more reliable (B2471885).
      I have replaced a couple to date for throwing up SC codes and causing image problems like pinching and stretching fairly intermittently.

      The only thing I couldn't see on your list of replacements was the polygon mirror motor apart from that.

          Sorry this B2471885 is new version of laser?

              New as in this modification came out 13 years ago.

                  I have this image problems like pinching and stretching fairly intermittently, after some time i sometimes get sc 220. Reboot machine and working for some hour or two after that code apear or pinching and stretching. Please tell me do i need to change laser? Witch part number to look for?

                      Replace the IPU PCB PN B247 5141
                      Could also be dust, toner or other contamination inside the laser housing.

                      One other thing that will affect intermittent Sc 220 is if the machine is not properly leveled and on a stable surface. Considering the overall optical path from the laser to the sync diode, any minor twisting of the housing will affect the diode alignment.
