    MPC 4500 sc 290 code

Cleaned and lubed shutter, replaced shutter motor and both sensors.
Will reset sometimes and won't other times. I can watch the shutter move when it does reset and it won't move when it codes.
I don't have another IO board to swap, but it should be either good or not.
    Anyone have any other ideas???
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

I don't have any personal experience with this specific code, but 'goose guide' (in case you don't have it) says check CN-266 on I/O board, and set SP2914-001-001 and 002 to 38 (default)

When we get any old MPC into the workshop, we remove the whole shutter just as part of our refurb, because they do give problems. I think from MPC2800 on, they don't have shutters anymore?!?!

Removing whole plate solved the problem.
            Thanks.

I removed the shutter from a RICOH MPC2500 and now I get SC 292 error. Any help would be gratefull.

Re: MPC 4500 sc 290 code

I took it out to troubleshoot a fading issue that I resolved by other means. I intend to put it back in now that I am getting the errors. I see a lot of posts saying "just remove the shutter" so I was given the impression that the Shutter related SC would not occur if the shutter is removed. This thread being one of them.

I recall getting an SC after removing the shutter on a 2500, might have been a 290. I refitted the two lever arms (that move the shutter plate) back onto the laser unit. I suspect they actuate a sensor to determine if the shutter is open or not.

Thank you for the helpful reply. I believe that the arms may be my problem also I will take out the laser unit and inspect later this week.

Friends! What causes the error is a gear to DC Shutter (B223-1213) ... Damaged gear blocks the mechanism shutter. I'll buy a new one to replace it. Thanks to all!

It's pretty clearly on top of the laser unit, andf if you're having trouble finding that, then you're in WAY OVER YOUR HEAD
