    Aficio MP2500 - SC 411

I have had about 4 instances of this on different machines of the same model machine. The machine starts up and reaches ready mode, without any problem, but as soon as one tries to copy/print anything (even a meter print), it stops with the error message.3 we have been able to get going, but this current one refuses to work.I have replaced HV board and discharge plate as per the manual, with no improvement. I have also checked for firmware bugs and upgrades but without success.I see there are several occurrences around the world, but no-one has posted a solution as yet.I would appreciate any help in this regard

Might sounds like a long shot but have you tried swapping the fusing units over? I have had lots of weird and wonderful errors in the past that don't make any sense when it comes to HV errors. But rememeber the fuser and transfer are the most demanding on voltage so if you have swapped over the HV board I would start swapping the transfer, fuser and other units to see if that makes any difference....

    Just a thought....

Further testing has revealed that, disconnecting the Discharge cable from the Discharge power pack on the HV board, allows the machine to work (without the code) and without (so far) ill effects to the copies.

We are doing some more testing though.

I had this one recently, the fault was exactly as you described, the problem was the transfer roller assembly, the contact terminal for the discharge plate housing breaks and allows the contact to push outwards from the housing and when the side is closed it shorts to ground. replace the transfer roller assembly and all will be fixed. see attached photos.Broken.JPG

              Thanks man!

I am sending this info to my tech supervisor, so that the field techs can take a closer look when they next get this!

Thanks a million for the feedback.

I love finding crazy (but completely legitimate) answers to emergencies like this. It's just another one of those things where you'd never guess it in a hundred years.
