I have a 1515 that looks as though a seal or something is missing. There is toner in the toner holder, over the toner bottle and in the machine, which I did vacuum out and clean. I am not familiar with Ricohs at all. Is there something I should look for or is this a problem this machine has. The only image quality problem we have had was yesterday when one of the edges had light spots.

Re: Aficio 1515 dumping toner
It is a normal condition to find toner within the toner bottle holder. If the client finds it unacceptacle replacing the bottle holder would minimize the issue.

Also make sure they are loading the toner correctly. Locked in place BEFORE lowering the handle...this does make a difference.Comment

Re: Aficio 1515 dumping toner
The "slider" inside the toner hopper is bad.
This is the part that the mouth of the bottle sits up against when it is locked in. It is basically a couple of foam seals mounted on a piece of plastic. the foam gets compressed and clogged with toner, and then leaks around the bottle as it spins, coating the bottle, and the toner hopper tray, and then the toner starts to pour off the tray onto PCU, etc. It's about a $1 part and 10mins to replace, and well worth it. The same applies for all machines with this type of hopper Assy (2027/3025/MP2000/2020,etc.)

Re: Aficio 1515 dumping toner
Thanks all. I did need to change the PCU unit, as the drum looks to be bad. I did look at the toner hopper, but do not remember seeing any foam seals. Thanks for that Sandmanmac. When I get back there I will look at that. I don't believe that I had the toner locked into place as I was looking at it, I'll try the next time I'm there. I had the bottle in placed, but it did move back and forth. If at first you don't succeed, redefine successComment

Zackuth
the bottle on most of the Ricoh machines is only held in place when the hopper is fully inserted into the machine. Reason for this is that the toner hopper motor sits against the rear frame of the machine and when you push the hopper home, the motor engages the back of the bottle, and this keeps it in place.
If the hopper is pulled out, you can move the bottle back and forth in the hopper tray without much effort - this is normal.Press the GREEN button!!Comment

Re: Aficio 1515 dumping toner
About the only time i get a mess of toner on this model besides a little dusting is one of few problems either the pcu is bad happens between 40k and 60k (or more) pages im guessing bad developer likely. Usually the pcu has toner all over the backside where the cleaning/charge roller window is and by the laser glass if thats the case i just replace the pcu. The other time i have a huge mess is when someone put the wrong toner in the machine And also make sure all 4 of the plastic mylars in the hopper are in place these two usually cause a toner add condition though.Comment
