    Sorry to inform you that SPC 431 has exactly the same problem and it happens on the MFD (MPC300/400) as well. It seems to happen more often when the usage patterns are intermittent such as schools with long holidays, no weekend use etc. Good luck.

      This is just my opinion, but i think that the problem here is that the tube is too long, which means that when the toner is not fed out fast enough, it starts to (because it is so fine) compact [like talc powder] and in the end is such a solid mass that the coil simply cannot turn, and damage follows.

      The MPC300 uses a shorter toner path (AFAIK) and we have not [touch wood!] had one failure yet.

      The steel coils, if installed correctly, have, in most instances, far outlasted the nylon ones - but I stay with my original statement - it seems like a flawed design to begin with.
