    Recomendation on Tool Bag

    Hey all,

I am shopping around for a new tool bag several of the pockets are ripped on mine and the velcro on the exterior pouches (2 half size 1 full size) is all worn so they flaps dont close. I am curious where and what style you guys have, I am looking for a two side soft case 1 side for tools other for laptop, I also would like the exterior pockets for my cleaning supplies but would be nice to get ones that hook instead of the velcro, doesnt have to have a ton of pockets i only carry in the basic tools, nutdriver, screwdrivers, needlenose, spring hook and pick pretty much. I leave the multi meter and some other once in a while tools in the van just to lighten my load.

Any brand recommendations i checked out tecra and crawford but didnt really see one i liked well.

I use a soft sided rolling tool bag that I can carry, has a compartment for a laptop and includes a removable padded laptop pouch. It takes the standard tool holder inserts with plenty of room for everything I need. I took the laptop pouch out and have 2 tool pallets instead.

That ones not bad probably a little more then i need to carry, the wheels make it nice though. I did like the Z190 on that site it would be better if the tool pockets were rivited, I noticed all the pockets on my current bag ripped at the corners from putting tools in and out once the corner ripped they just kept coming apart from there. I also liked the 3 section bag because the external pockets are on the skinny sides but I don't like the center being bucked with locks instead of just having a zipper. I added the site to my favorites thanks for the info.

This is the case I have now except a couple of the plier and screwdriver pockets are ripped off. Its almost more then I really need to carry, i dont use half the tools in my back.

          CH Ellis...best bag ever.

Notice the middle section, it's a dual zipper HUGE storage compartment. If you're like me with rags, chemicals, disposable work mats, miscellaneous parts, pill bottles of screws/clips it's AWESOME. I even tucked the zippered covers inside so I always have access to my junk.

The one size is tools and the other side is reinforced for paperwork, test charts etc.

Another plus is that it can't tip over.

I use a veto pro pac XLT,

Model XLT | Veto Pro Pac - Toolbags That Work.

I love it. Plenty of room for tools, laptop, paperwork, spare bits and bobs and cleaning whats its and top it off built like the proverbial brick sh*t house. Heavy duty but not too heavy the shoulder strap comes in real handy when your arms are full of parts boxes, vacuum cleaner, lunch and your bosse's wife's laundry.

I finally broke down and retired my soft-side bag as the tool holders were just going to hell... 22320W 85568-1N10 Here are two rollers from Home Depot. I was looking for roller bag and the 85558 is the one I got and love it, laptop, binder, tools, power driver, multimeter, everything in one bag with room to spare. Perhaps to big for your wants, but check out home depot, they have tons of really nice bags.

              Good Luck

I saw one like this earlier on one of the sites i was checking out, but its middle section was buckled with suitcase style locks so it didnt interest me, but this version i am kind of liking, at first I was thinking laptop in the middle but after you said you put all your cleaning stuff in there, it really makes sense to do it that way. The exterior pockets on mine are all saggy from the towels and cleaning bottles i stuff in there which makes it tip over all the time and drives me nuts, but this one you got having the big stuff in the center keeps it a little more balanced i bet. This one is definatly going on my list to consider.

I really like everyones different styles kind of neat to see how some you other guys or gals carry everything, being in the field by yourself most of the time doesnt really inspire you with ideas, nice to get the pro's and cons from guys or gals in the field.

We are in the process of buying STANLEY bags. They are the same shape as laptop bags (and have an inner for a laptop) but much more robust zips and support, so that it won't tear and go to hell!

There are 2 models: one with wheels and one without wheels. Both have the option of carrying it on the handle on top or as a backpack with the concealed rear straps.

Well I haven't picked one out yet, but thanks for the insight and suggestions. Looks like theres a lot to choose from. As much as i like the laptop breifcase look, the backpack style almost makes sense, sure would be easier to carry my vaccum and parts in with a backpack like bag, then the shoulder bag. Thanks a lot guys awesome info.
