G=GSA(government services administration, I think) The box was built for a government entity according to their particular requirements.

mikadonovan is correct. Ricohs with a G at the end of the model is for goverment. When they buy of goverment contract they get these.

GSA equipment requires the machine to NOT be built/assembled in China and other restricted countries.
In Ricoh's case, they will have a secondary assembly line in an approved country and add a "G" to the model name.
