MPC4000 Faulty polygon mirror motors cause failure of BICU boards. There is a technical bulletin issued regarding this problem. Alternatively SC 204 can be caused by problems in the PTR area/ITB area (check by running machine with PTR removed, machine will jam but SC code does not appear if problem is in this area) or by a broken (open circuit) external earth lead to duplex at lower rear.

This code can also be caused by something really sneaky. At the bottom of the paper transfer unit there's a bar with two wedges on the end that stop the unit moving too far forward, allowing you to close the side door without having to push the unit back manually. Either side of this bar there is a spring. Check to see they haven't been dislodged.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

I had this problem today. It was the springs in my case.
