...because toner end and toner near end are two different situations. I guess the toner near end and toner consumption values are stored in the RFID chip of the toner bottle while the toner end is flagged in the machines engine NV Ram.

You can try with SP3045 Toner End Detection ON/OFF turning off the sensor and get the unit to recover but does not always work.
      Check these settings.
Toner End-Near End SP3101 (1-4) shows amount in bottle (5-8) is amount consumed (9-12) is amount remaining (13-16) threshold % for warning message.
Machine does the math and does not like to recover when a negative amount of toner is remaining (sp3101 9-12)

As posted by Gift the problem has now been written to the NVRAM.

The problem now lives in the NVRam (Engine) You can check this by.

1 Copy the existing NVRAM to a SD card (slot 2) use SP5824-001 "Execute"
2 Shut off unit and remove card
3 Reboot unit and perform Memory Clear Engine use SP5801-002 ENG All "Execute"
4 Reboot again and see if the add toner message goes away. IF GONE the problem is in NVRAM
5 Shut off unit and reinsert SD card (slot 2)
6 Reboot and copy the old NVRAM back onto machine use SP5825-001 "Execute"
7 Shut off unit and remove card
8 Reboot and does the add toner problem come back ?

If so, you now print out the non-default data (sp5990-006) and then clear the Engine NVRAM (SP5801-002) and reprogram all the non-default data back into machine.

Reboot and check your registration as the laser settings may need to be adjusted again by the machine ( SP2111 ) Do C twice and then A.

I have done this on 6 or 7 machines ( C3000 , C4500 , C5000 ) in the last 6 months and works. I go to this when I know all my "hardware" is working.

Very good info . I also use many time clear RAM ENGINE to solve pb end toner detection.

but after clear RAM you must change all developpers.

              HI
You must replace the toner attraction pump, of the color toner that the message to be replace.
already had this problem and fix this problem just change the toner attraction pump.

The default toner remaining setting was If my memory is right is 25mg this makes the message seem to last an age reduce it to 5mg before toner near end appears even at this setting there is sufficient time to order new toner.
