Had one of those go thru a power surge. It was doing the same, but changing the PSU got it so it threw some SC codes. Ended up needing the power supply in the controller also. Big black scorch marks!

Have you tried unplugging the HDD? Also try swapping out the memory.

Yes i unplugged the HD harness from the controller side and it still done the same. I am looking as point to point diagrams now and am hopeful that i will find a soloution. Thanks for your suggestions

It is the controller board mate as far as I am aware. Even though you say you tried it, are you sure the one you tried was ok? There is a Ricoh bulletin on Knowledgbase tier 2 about this.
        Cheers.

Im 100% sure my controller board was working. I know this because i actually swapped it out of a working mach. I then got the controller board from the faulty mach and put it in my good mach and my mach worked. I then have also even swapped the whole controller assy over from my good mach as i thought it may have even been the mother board or something else in the controller assy. And again put the suspected faulty one in my mach and it worked. All components that were exchanged over were tested on both machs and every thing has worked on my good mach including all components from the suspected mach. I know your thinking If everything was done then surely it would be fixed but unfortunately no. I have spoken to t/support and they have suggested a mirror motor but will leave to last as not too sure about it. Thanks again for your suggestions and i will try and get another controller board to triple chk. I am also changing harnesses as well now. Will let you know how and if it works.

Had a similar fault a while back, turned out to be a 24v line short. AF2075, but essentially the same machine.

My fault was caused but the loom from a solenoid on the front of the tandem tray rubbing on the tray runner. Blows fuse (FU105?) on PSU, takes down the main 24v line to the op panel.

I think you may also find if you power down, change the fuse, open the tandem tray and power on you get the op panel back.
you can also detach and turn over the op panel with it plugged in to check the line voltages from the PSU.

If not, try pulling the input connector (24v /12v / 5v )to the Paper Feed Control PCB.

tcs04, Thanks for your suggestion. Yes the AF 1060 series to MP8000 are almost identical still accept for some boards obviously. I like the sound of your suggestion as i got to the point where i questioned the client to try and sus out what exactly happened just before it died. And the client did say it they pulled out tray one and noticed the bottom plate did not go down as quick as it should and knowing client probably slammed paper trays and doors. Will try it and if it works will let you know. Thanks again.

P.S the only difference is that my fuses are not blown.
