[Error Code] Sc819 MPC2551 - Can't update firmware

New machine, turned on with SC819

Tried to upgrade firmware, two's were ok, then not possible anymore to upgrade!
Any clue before swapping controller board?
Tried swapping ram and HDD! No way!

Since this is a new machine. What SD cards are in unit ? I would suspect some problem with applications trying to access the controller. The problem is in/with the controller I would say. But first strip down the controller..... no options at all. No Fax, no Java or other applications. Disconnect hard drive, unplug finisher, ADF, bridge ect. SD card sliders in right position? Can you get to service mode? If so are there any other codes along with the sc819?

Just a guess, but would this qualify as one of the machines that board manufacturing was affected by the Japan Tsunami, so the firmware varies depending on the location of manufacture and has to be matched accordingly?
I've read about that issue in this forum

I managed to find this one. There's not a lot of info in the post. I'm pretty sure I have seen it more than once, but I couldn't find anymore right now

I did a little more looking around and I would say you have a few ways to go at this.

The problem is with the controller "talking" to the different applications. The latest firmware update bulletin shows a few updates for the SC819 errors but you stated you are having a problem with the firmware updates at this point. (Remember ricoh machines can be fussy with firmware if NOT on right size SD Card )
What did you mean by "the twos were ok" ??

I have seen machines come in "NEW" with the SD cards installed in the wrong slots. Security Unit should be in upper slot and Java in lower slot. If they were in the wrong slots and you tried to do the firmware you may have damaged the whole kit and caboodle . Replace controller, NVRAM on controller, HDD, and get new SD cards - ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

The unit should have a Java Card in Slot 2. I know there were some bad Java Cards out there. Ricoh has an update for the Java Cards also. You need to download the correct Java Card update / application on your laptop, insert Java card in laptop and run the updater on Java card.

This unit "comes with" Security SD Card in Slot 1 when shipped. Did someone try to enable the HDD Encryption and/or DOS ?
Take a look at tech bulletin 004(Reissue)





be damaged and all data on it will be unusable.
If the Encryption Key is lost and the key needs to be restored,
the controller board, hard disk, NVRAM and this SD Card must all be replaced at the same time.

ok, i am checking it right now.
All firmware updated (but network.. here in italy we don't have tessa access and Italian's Ricoh portal is showing only ol 10.59 (rev. E ) firmware.
I now have an erratic sc866 & sc899 error.
I tried removing Encryption Card and Sd Java Card, No success.
On the panel I have also this message "SD Card Authentication Error"

What else can I try.?

After upgrading Java Software we are experiencing sc819 again. Is erratic.
Can work for 10 minutes or 1 hour. Suddenly Sc819.
SC History shows also SC866.

We had (one time only) that Printer or Scanner feature doesn't load... need to shutdown to boot it again.

Going mad!!

I've had this problem SC819 when upgrade the firmware with a SD CARD 2 GIGAS BYTES, try wiyh a small one 1GIGA or less.

We tried with a 128mb sd card.
Now it's ok but we're waiting. Error codes are randoms!
Still remain "SD Card Autenthication Failed" error on main panel!

Is not normal you can not update firmware with a SD card, but you can try to update remotely with web browser.

You must have the firmware with the extension, xxxxxxxxxx.rfu.

we swapped back to original controller board. (as asked from Ricoh Help Desk)
Updated all firmware..after 2 hours of working... sc819.....
No way... We are going to RMA the whole machine.

WTF!

Your machine is going into Energy Save Mode..... then your SC819 happens. There was a firmware fix for this. But I will tell you that I have seen
this problem on other models as well and it seems to be when it falls asleep, what level of sleep/Energy Save mode its in. Then it cannot wake up
without having some sort of problem ( loss of network access, controller freeze, display never comes back on but unit works.)

Try changing your timers, don't let it go into Energy save mode.

Go to user tools, system settings, admin, and on the third screen look for
AOF and TURN IT OFF. (temp fix)

Sc-819 change FCU, BCU, then turn on machine with front cover open ( when machine trigger cover open error, then enter sp mode, now do the HDD formatting at least the HDD(thumbmail and job log muct be format)
