I have done a dev change to alleviate the streak, but it returned in the exact same spot. I then ran a feeler gauge across the mag roller top and bottom for the second time(I did this before the dev change, too, no help). The line is temporarily gone. The machine only has 38K color on it. Anyone had development unit issues on this model?

Re: MPC 4501(D088) STREAKS
we encountered this problem in MPC2800. Replaced the developer and performed the procedure base on the service manual(RTB) then the machine will work for a short time. The line will appear on the same spot and it is also obvious on the magnetic roller. We replaced the dev't unit and now it is ok.Nobody is perfect.. -
Re: MPC 4501(D088) STREAKS
We've had this a lot with the MPC2800/3300 generation. Replacing the dev powder didn't work all the time - even if one tried to vac out the dev unit thoroughly, especially the doctor cap. I usually try to turn the mag roller back and forward (a copuple of rotations per direction) for at least 2 minutes and that helps most of the time "crushing" clumped toner off the doctor gap without facing the issue again (still I'd recommend a testrun with at least 50 color pages). In case the bright streaks re-appear I swap the entire dev-unit.
Btw: There's a bulletin available with a part number for a drive gear you can use as support to turn the mag roller gear (it's hard to handle with bare hands).Comment

Sounds like I'd better have another dev unit in standby. Too bad the B222 units are different. I've got a ton of those. Thanks for the replies.NEVER ASSUME ANYTHINGComment
