Have a customer that thinks black is too strong. I went into copy gamma and dialed it back two notches so they are happy with copy side. Tried going into print side sp1104 for printer settings and followed manual instructions for decreasing gamma there. From one extreme to the other it made no difference on the printing. I appreciate any suggestions as to how to lighten the black channel on the print side. I called tech support and they have their head up their a$$ telling me to change either the drum or dev.

Re: Adjusting black strength for printing LD425c
Usually the request is the other way around, not black enough. Have you already tried making adjustments in the print driver? Depending on the driver type, you should be able to go into the Print Quality tab and make some manual adjustments. Not sure if this will give the desired outcome, but it is preferable to changing settings on the mfp to suit the whim of the operator. It's probably not a bad idea to change the developer in case a previous tech pumped it up to fix something else (unless of course you have been the only one working on it). From there, you can tone it down to the desired density by running sky shots and then lock in the TD settings. -
Re: Adjusting black strength for printing LD425c
I have played with all possible combos of the print driver for print quality. There is a section in the manual 4.3.6 which addresses adjusting the gammas for each color channel on both the copy and print side. The copy side works as it should, print side does absolutely nothing. I have worked on Kyoceras and Toshies. Each of them has adjustments to separate the copy and print qualities, apparently Ricoh products do not.I've proved mathematics wrong. 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2.........
