Setting up postscript on the Ricoh 2027

Just wondering what the steps I need to take to get this printer to print postscript. Some printers have an optional board and some have a code that needs to be entered. What am I looking at as far as cost goes? I just need a ballpark amount to take to my boss.
I also wonder if this will print from a MAC OS 10.6 with out postscript.

The postscript module must be added to the controller board - with some patience you might find this option for a few bucks at ebay or second hand from a dealer. Installation is not meant to perform by customers, since you must loosen many screws and some covers (it's not really complex, tough). I know there are workarounds to print with mac on non-postscript printers but I haven't tried an - you might find some suggestions via google.

To print Postscript you"ll need a Postscript SD-Card/Memory Module. Don't think you can get one these days because the 2027 is quiet old.

If I can find one I can install it. I've worked on coipers most of my life. I'll let the boss know it's not likely to find the part. What I've done with odd Operating Systems is install a HPlaserjet 5 driver and point it to the printers IP. You'll lose features but you'll at least get a basic 2 sided copy. I've already set it up and it's printing on OS/2 warp 4.

This has nothing to do with odd operating systems. This machine doesn't support the Postscript printer language without the proper PS-Unit. The HP Laserjet 5 is a PCL-driver, which the 2027 supports. If you try to print Postscript to a non-supporting Postscript printer, the printer will print rubbish.

I was referring to the work around to get it to print with a MAC without a Postscript driver. Yes if you send a Postscript print job to a non postscript ptinter you may get 100 pages with a q in the top left corner. Ricoh has Mac drivers but I think they were all postscript. So if I can't get a hold of a card I'll have to come up with a work around.

You can try the Gutenprint driver, but it's not supported by Ricoh.

I work with MACs so infrequently that it's always a bit of trial and error. Although Postscript is obviously the best solution, I know I have managed to get a few Ricohs to print by pointing the MAC toward the embedded PCL xl language that most of them have. I am also 99% sure that I have a 2027 P/S 3 card at my shop. I can check on Monday. PM me if you're interested.

Printing to a 2027 from the Mac is only possible with the PS card installed, no other way. I tried this at a church that used iMacs and found out from Ricoh they didn't support printing on the Mac without a postscript card. Ricoh has drivers for Mac OSX.1 to OSX.7 for the 2027 (old machine that still works). Good luck finding the PS card.
