You're right teebee, the wording makes all the difference; plus 'service mode lock' it is, as I didn't remember the exact name for this. Little knowledge helps a lot. Or, 'help your head save your heels' - still learning this

Like Teebee stated it was the wording of the original post that led us to believe that you had already tried an SP reset.
I knew about "service mode lock" like a few others did but we were just thrown by the original post...no drama...we live and learn eh

OMFG - that's a good example why it makes sense to use a few more words to describe an issue. Customers usually don't get that but a tech should know it better. If someone tells me "Code can't be reset through SP mode" I'd just assume that the SC-code instantly re-occures after resettingvia SP Mode. So a better describtion would be something like "SC code can't be resettet because the SP mode isn't accessible". Things can be hard to to judge from the distance, that'S why a good description is essential.

I have a few of these machines that sometimes won't let me into SP-Mode. Pressing Copy SP results in three beeps. After switching off/on, the SP-mode can be accessed again.

Yeah, I noticed that too - quite occasional but often enough to remember. It's probably some software process blocking the function. Maybe it's the same issue like if a machine won't shutdown (or take quite some time) after pressing the soft-off button on the operation panel.
