Please supply the model number of the machine that is causing you this hardship, as it could be caused by several things depending on machine model.

Addendum: Put the model number in the title - always.

This is what Goose's Guide suggests:

Drum/dev bias error - replace paper transfer unit
Drum/dev bias error - replace high voltage supply unit
                Drum/dev bias error - replace drum unit(s)

High voltage power: Drum/ development bias output error
An error signal is detected for 0.2 seconds when charging the drum or
                  development.
                  􀂃 High voltage leak
                  􀂃 Broken harness
􀂃 Defective drum unit or development unit
􀂃 Defective high voltage supply unit
                  491 D
                  1. Check or replace the harness.
                  2. Replace the drum unit or paper transfer unit.
                  3. Replace the high voltage supply unit.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

                    Re: SC 491

Can't we just delete such time-waster topics if people aren't qualified enough to start threads with some kind of minimum informations we need in order to give support, like:

                    - model?
                    - what issue/symptome?
                    - is it permanent/sporadically?
                    - already performed measures?
                    - PM status of the machine (in case it might be relevant)

Maybe, after some public brainstorming, a mod can write a little guide and make it sticky somewhere so at least we don't need to teach pre-school basics and re-invent the wheel all the time. Maybe it's just me thinking that these insufficiant threads are a growing phenomenon.

                      [Symptom]
                      SC491 (High-voltage: Charge/Development: Output error) is displayed.
                      [Cause]
Drum (PCU + Dev. U) development unit is faulty.
                      [Resolution]
                      Replace appropriate drum unit.

                      [Symptom]
SC491 - high voltage supply and IOB are normal - no error found connectors or harnesses.
                      [Cause]
PCU Drum Stay Assembly not seated flush when closed - Yellow PCU not getting a proper drum ground connection.

                      [Resolution]
Disassembled Drum Stay Assembly (B2231300) - adjusted assembly so that it sits flush when closed and secured

                      The machine shows service call.
                      [Cause]
                      IOB is faulty.
                      [Action]
                      Replace IOB.

                      OR

Look for harness in transfert unit sometimes you can find a white wire broken.

Most people ask for help at Yahoo or Fixya first...where you can remain annonymous, ask your question and still leave just as clueless as when you went in.
I think people forget that the vast majority of replies here are coming from actual techs in the field....unlike Yahoo or Fixya etc.

You might want to consider checking the start date of this thread dude, and then perhaps browse the history and input of the contributor that you're so pissed off at for NO reason, and then tell us what makes you so damn awesome with your 4 big posts in as many years.
