    ricohmpc 2500 drum connector

I give up how do you get to and change the drum connector on the copier. The customer slammed the drum unit in and busted the connector on the frame.

This will be in the service manual.

However, I'd assume that the whole drive assembly has to come out.

Cue Munkeh to provide step-by-step instructions...

Sorry, this just drifted into my whiskey-addled brain - why is the customer slamming in a drum unit at all? That is not where they should be, surely?

Or are you saying that you put in a black PCU without modifying the connector and knocked it out yourself?

its the blue unit out of another mpc 2500 and the connector broke I assume that they slammed the unit in and broke it

It is a case of removing the complete drive assy, it is a half day job in total and is very fiddly. I have personally done it a number of times. I have seen one very enterprising tech remove the entire loom and connectors from the drum/dev assy and plug them into what remained of the rear frame connector, tape it down to the area under the drum (tape it to the frame of the machine) slide the drum/dev back in and then reconnect the front connector......it does work, however it clearly makes future drum changing and servicing difficult. Good luck

Well I said that. I didn't add a picture, I must do that next time.

You can consider this as a total write-off if the customer has to pay the bill for this. The costs for the main drive plus working hours won't cover the current value of this machine. So if this is really a customer-fault I'd write an estimate and hand it over to the sales guy who's in charge for this customer.
