[Misc] Minimum HDD size on MP C3500/4500

Probably a dumb question... but is there any way to reduce the minimum allowable HDD size from 80GB (each) in the C3500/4500 series, etc. I found out the hard way that 40Gb don't work, and I foolishly acquired several 'matched sets' of 40Gb drives before trying them or even thinking about them not working Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, no. Generally a Ricoh machine will accept a larger drive but not a smaller one. If a larger size is fitted the additional capacity is wasted as the unit is hard coded to create partitions of specific sizes. I suspect this is why a smaller drive will not function as it cant make the required partitions without reaching the end of the drive.

Thanks Zed. Just wishful thinking on my part I suppose, since I acquired these things without thinking. They will definitely take the larger drives as I installed a pair of 160Gb units after the 40Gb didn't work
