    2018 transfer roller

Not being ungracious, but i would expect both the machines mentioned to return to your call sheets once the initial coating of the transfer roller is again impregnated with toner , and the pcu starts overtoning, from previous experience, the only solution is manufacturers genuine toner, genuine pcu components, these machines cannot run well on non oem components, this also applied to the AF220.

If changing to manufacturers toner from other suppliers, you will need to clear the old toner in the machine, whether by controlled skyshot or other means, by just inserting the new manufacturers toner you will merely mix the two and continue to experience the marks for quite a while afterwards.

If this fails you need to contact manufacturer support.

Was the PCU & transfer roller changed?

I guess the verdict is still out.

Sorry, read the unisis12 carfule, the fact is:
I have 8 pcs. A-180 in maintains. On all mach. hapen same things.
When customer spend a cartridge (All-in-one) I put a for use toner in this
cartridge and things go one : 1st copy have black mark on back of paper on lead edge, subsequent copies are clean on the back . I replace Transfer Roller , same thing. In that time put a new OEM cartridge in mach.
and you don't see a ghost, next 16.000 copies.

Banding back of lead edge of first sheet, fading to background after 3/4"

EVERY time I have seen this in the field it has been after:
a: Customer was sent wrong toner and actually installed it.
b: Customer was using aftermarket toner (either at their own purchase or sent by dealer)

First time I saw this, it was in an Af220. The customer had run out of toner, but had two bottles of toner for their FT4015, so they poured one bottle of FT4015 toner into the AF220 bottle and went back to copying. Took about 20 pages before it started.
The toner is getting a reversed tribo-electric charge in the dev unit, coating the drum (attract rather than repel when dev bias off) and then coating transfer roller during roller cleaning. It transfers to the back of the sheet when the first page passes by.

Change the TONER (1130D) AND DEVELOPER (Type 28), Clean the transfer roller with a soft towel and you should be good to go.

            freakin' classic!!!

What fixed it? What fixed it?

We're all curious, as this is a large-enough thread.

try to first clean-up all the old toner and developer from the machine before u introduce the other new supplies [OEM]. mostly it didnt matchs if u mix the manufacturer stuff from the other supplies.

It is probably overtoned. Remove the toner bottle and run ALOT of sky shots to detone. Gradually the mark on the back will go away.
Yes, its coming from the transfer roller but its bdcause the developer is overtoned.
Also as mentioned, turn on transfer roll cleaning.

I promise thats it to ! Change the Transfer Roller.
Amazing how distorted this has become since first reported !
Always good to have differences of opinions and idea's though which is encouraging to read !

I've had this happen on this machine, but even more often on A265 & B022 series. It almost always comes down to developer concentration being too high. I've had some luck increasing vtmin. How much depends on the machine & how overtoned it is. The transfer roller gets a buildup on it while the machine is cycling & as soon as paper passes between it & the drum, the toner is "transferred" to the lead edge of the back side of the paper.

                          Hope this helps...jay

black bands on the back lead edge of paper

check the developer type used is it 28 or 19 also the toner type must be for 2015/2018 not for 1015/1018.
no need to adjust anything from the sp modes.
just clean the transfer roller with a toothbrush bristles (special tool) free it from toner dust.
be sure to have a new drum and dev.
                            hope it helps!!!
